Intercultural Dynamics

Business success in a more and more globalised as well as virtual world requires specific skills to navigate through cultural differences and decode cultures foreign to your own.

Cultural differences can impact international business, as cultures provide a source of identity for their members through commonly held beliefs and values providing guidelines for behaviour and collaboration.

Diversity, including cultural diversity, influences teams in three ways:

  • Team members are usually attracted to work with others who seem to be similar in terms of values, beliefs, and attitudes.
  • Team members tend to categorize themselves and others into groups or subgroups
  • Diversity brings different contributions to teams, such as broader variety of information, range of networks, problem-solving apporaches, creativity, innovation, and adaptability.

Our intercultural programs focus on (excerpt):

  • Gaining specific knowledge about opportunities and potential barriers for intercultural understanding
  • Experiencing the do´s and dont´s regarding communication, feedback, making decisions, and leading others
  • Raising awareness regarding how to persuade in a specific culture, as well as building trust-based relationships
  • Learning how to behave in a confrontational situation and how to deal with time pressure, schedules, and deadlines

Focused intercultural measures guarantee the transfer of learning effects into daily practice, based on previously defined key performance indicators.
